Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (1621-1675)

गुरु तेग बहादुर सिमरियै घर नौउ निध आवै धाय ॥
Pray to Guru Tegh Bahadur For bestowing bounties on us And coming to our aid everywhere

Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib was an embodiment of sheer courage and bravery. His life serves as an example to humanity, not to be afraid of the right causes. He had the courage Et conviction to fight the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

He was born in Amritsar and was the youngest son of the sixth guru Hargobindji. His excellence with sword earned him the name of Tegh Bahadur (Hero of the sword). But early in his youth he accepted a life of Renunciation Er Contemplation. After the announcement of the eighth guru (GuruHarkrishanJi) indicating him as the next guru, Guru Tegh Bahadurji took up the duties as the ninth guru. He travelled intensively preaching the teachings of Guru Nanak. He founded the city of Anandpur Sahib. He visited many parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal Et Assam to bless his devotees. It was a period when Emperor Aurangzeb was forcing conversion to Islam. Guru Tegh Bahadurji was approached by Kashmiri Pandits Et He was prepared for the Supreme sacrifice of his life upholding "The Right to freedom of Religion." On the orders issued by the Emperor Aurangzeb on 11th November 1675, Guru Tegh Bahadurji was Martyred at Chandni Chowk in Delhi.

The history of the world is full of martyrs but the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadurji is unique and inspiring.
